Veturah Thomas, MSW, LICSW, is excited to join the Developing Brain Institute at Children’s National as a Perinatal Behavioral Health Specialist within the Clark Parent & Child Network Prenatal-Neonatal Pillar. Veturah was born and raised in Prince George’s County and has familial roots in Sierra Leone, West Africa. She is an alumna of Howard University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in social work. As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Veturah has extensive experience working with children and their families in the Maryland and Washington, D.C., area.
Outside of her professional career, she is a wife and soon-to-be mother who enjoys traveling within the U.S. and internationally; assists with births as a Certified Birth Doula; cooks; and makes an impact through sisterhood, service and scholarship as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Veturah looks forward to supporting and changing the narrative for birthing mothers in the greater DC region.
