Julia Cogdell, BS, MSW, joined the Developing Brain Institute at Children’s National in November 2021 as a maternity care specialist. Julia earned her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience with a minor in psychology from Temple University. She completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at New York University. Her clinical work includes providing emotional support and resource connections to individuals with complex, chronic medical conditions and working with youth experiencing homelessness to help them secure stable housing. Prior to pursuing her MSW, she was a research assistant at two Temple University labs: Speech Language and Brain Lab, and The Child and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders Clinic. Julia worked on multiple projects supporting speech and language skills, child development, and mental health. Julia is passionate about ensuring equitable access to care and eliminating barriers to care. She is excited to be a part of a wonderful team working to improve maternal and infant health.
