Joelle Adon, MS, joined the Developing Brain Institute (DBI) as a maternity care specialist on the Mommy&Me team in April 2023. Joelle was born in Montgomery County, Maryland, and has family roots in Côte d'Ivoire. She holds a bachelor’s in Health Education and Promotion from Towson University and recently earned her master’s in Biomedical Science from Wake Forest University. As an undergraduate, she founded Keepers of Hope, an organization that aims to educate students about global health disparities and that funds impoverished mothers in Sierra Leone with the aim of improving maternal health in Africa. As a graduate student, Joelle gained research experience studying how African American caregivers' (mother’s) race affects the provision of healthcare for medically complex children. Her diverse training, education and clinical experience have made her a well-rounded, multi-dimensional professional who works to mitigate maternal and child health crises for the overall improvement of health care. During her free time, Joelle enjoys volunteering for various organizations in the Washington, D.C./Maryland area, helping homeless and low-income residents receive food and essential resources.
